April 11th 2008

Osprey over garden 09:40 heading towards Draycote and Chiffchaff feeding in garden for ten minutes also two Sparrowhawks over. Out with Dave in the afternoon to Draycote and had a wintery feel with hail showers and a cold blustery wind. Our walk to toft produced at least three flocks of Sand Martins heading north numbering 300+ with House Martin and 10 Swallows with them and 4 Yellow Wagtails on farborough bank. Only other birds of note were Gadwall 3, Wigeon 2, Linnets 2, Sparrowhawk and Buzzard. Hill Road was quiet with 9 Stock Doves feeding with hundreds of corvids but no sign of any Golden Plover though Green Farm, Sawbridge had 10 Fieldfare and nearby a few Tree Sparrows were on the feeders of railway cottages with many House Sparrows.
